General School History

In the mid fifties the Gates and Chili areas were expanding and it was decided to build a school of their own. Prior to this, students who resided in these areas were transported to other schools. The school buildings were built in 1956 and dedicated on May 23, 1959.

The school 'mascot' is a spartan and the logo you will find in most yearbooks is a Spartan head. Through the years this logo has been modified in color and image, but the character has remained the same.
